switch_on2.gif (3074 bytes)

Normal power-up sequence If LED does not light, ensure Red-Eye is plugged into the IR Blaster Out socket on the back of the STB
press_normal.gif (2352 bytes) (Led flashes in response to remote keypress)

Normal response - LED flash indidcates code is being sent to Set-Top box

If STB does not respond, try adjusting position of Red-Eye on STB
press_bad.gif (2448 bytes) (Led goes Off  or flickers when remote key pressed)

Unrecognised IR code

Check that remote is programmed correctly.

flicker.gif (1794 bytes)

(Random flickering when no remote being used)
IR interference.
Common sources of IR interference are jammed-down buttons on another remote control,   Low-energy bulbs, Plasma screens and Sharp Aquos TVs

teach_0.gif (1283 bytes)

Teach mode (indicating that code 0 will be sent next) If you did not intend to enter teach mode, switch off mains power for 10 seconds, switch on, and do not operate any remote until the Red-Eye LED has gone to the normal steady dim state

See page 2 of the user instructions for full information on teach mode.

teach_send.gif (573 bytes)

Teach mode (Red-Eye is sending IR code to be learned)

teach_1.gif (1283 bytes)

Miscellaneous

2000 STB reliability problems
A couple of users of the 2000 STB have reported problems with occasional missed keypresses, which was fixed by repositioning Red-Eye towards the top-left corner of the STB's window.

Improving reliability of channel-change for timed recordings - see this page

A note on the Page/Volume functions - Note : this ONLY applies to users of Philips DTX6370 and compatible remotes. Pronto/learning remote users, and users of NTL blue remotes can access both page up/down and volume functions.
The volume up/down buttons on the Philips DTX remote are used by Red-Eye to provide page-up/down functions. As those STBs which support volume (Currently only Telewest) only do so in large steps, it was thought that page-up/down was a more important function, so you should use the original remote to initially set the volume to a level that is consistent with terrestrial channels, VCR etc. and then use the TV remote to adjust volume.
